In loving memory
Raymond “Ray” & Elaine Young
They’re the reason Elaine’s House exists. This is their story, and the promise we made to keep their love working for families across Western Pennsylvania.

Why we named it Elaine’s House
Our parents, Ray and Elaine, gave us everything. When it was our turn to care for them, we learned that the best care isn’t a checklist. It’s knowing how someone takes their coffee, which stories make them laugh, and how to help without ever taking away their pride.
We cared for them at home for many years. When we said goodbye, we knew we wanted that kind of care to keep going.
So we put Mom’s name on the door. Every person we support at Elaine’s House is treated the way we treated our parents: with patience, dignity, and a whole lot of love.

From their home to Elaine’s House
Raymond & Elaine Young
A marriage, a family, and a lifetime of showing up for the people they loved.
Caring for Mom & Dad at home
As they grew older, our family cared for them for many years: appointments, meals, good days and hard ones, always together.
Saying goodbye
We lost Ray and Elaine, but not what they taught us about patience, dignity, and love.
2024: Elaine’s House is founded
We built a provider for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, carrying Elaine’s name and the care our parents received.
Today
Supporting individuals and families across Allegheny and Butler counties, and growing our team of Direct Support Professionals.

What Ray & Elaine taught us
- Dignity first. Help should never cost someone their pride.
- Family shows up. On the hard days and the good ones.
- Home matters. People thrive where they feel they belong.
- Love is in the details. The little preferences are the big things.
